Solekai Completes Test Tool for CableLabs® Tuning Resolver Project

Boulder, CO – Solekai Systems Corporation, based in San Diego, CA, announced today the completion of a key component of the CableLabs® Tuning Resolver project. Engineers from Solekai’s Boulder Engineering Center, working with CableLabs, have delivered the first version of the Tuning Resolver Interface Simulator (TRIS).

TRIS is a PC-based test tool that will enable rapid development and testing of both the tuning resolver and of advanced features within a digital video recorder product. The TRIS will be used by CableLabs in testing as well. A tuning resolver allows unidirectional digital cable products, or UDCPs, to be designed and verified to operate in switched digital video (SDV)-enabled cable headends.

“We at CableLabs are encouraged by the flexibility this tool offers to allow us to validate the interfaces between UDCP products and tuning resolver devices, and ultimately provide UDCP devices with the ability to access switched digital video services in the field,” said So Vang, Vice President, Advanced Media Platforms, at CableLabs. “CableLabs is pleased with Solekai’s work.”

CableLabs will be licensing TRIS to those interested, and Solekai will continue to support, modify or enhance the tool for licensees as requested.
